Sims Professional Engineers can bring a host of analysis tools to solve your difficult problems including stress analysis using Finite Element and classical methods, and Dynamics modeling.

FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a highly detailed method used to assess the performance of a structural component, or entire structural system subjected to service loads and operating conditions.  Our skilled analysts will determine the stress, deflections, natural frequency, and buckling resistance.  Finite Element Analysis can also be used to perform forensic work by identifying the cause of field problems, as well as develop practical solutions to these problems.

Finite Element Analysis Services:

  • Two- and three-dimensional solid modeling
  • Linear, non-linear
  • Elastic and plastic analysis
  • Large structural analysis for transportation vehicles
  • Part analysis -- small cast, machined, or fabricated parts
  • Modal Analysis
  • Classical Analysis

While FEA is the modern analysis tool, many applications -- especially new design concepts -- are well suited for a "quick look" using well-established classical analysis techniques.  Sims Professional Engineers offers a full range of classical analytical methods and solutions.

NUCARS™ and Math Modeling

At Sims we use state-of-the-art analysis techniques, including NUCARS™ (New and Untried Cars Analytical Regime System), for determining vehicle performance through mathematical simulations.  In addition, parametric studies using NUCARSTM can easily be performed to determine the most favorable vehicle characteristics for optimal vehicle performance.

Newsflash

“U.S. rail intermodal traffic was up 10.1 percent in February compared with the same month in 2009, but down 10.6 percent for the same month in 2008.  "Rail traffic trends over the past few months, especially when you take out coal, are consistent with a slowly recovering economy," said John Gray, AAR's Senior Vice President of Policy and Economics…”
